The Kist has produced this book which helps to tell the story of the area.
The photo's in the book record the ebb and flow of generations of those who have settled in the housing schemes built in waves from the 1940's to the present day on land purchased from the Maxwell estate. The majority of the photographs date from this period, recording personal memories in scenes of family and street life. Community events such as the annual gala days held across Greater Pollok, and times when the area shared the history of the nation, such as Pollok's contribution to the Second World War effort.
To interpret some of these photographs we have added poetry, cartoons and captions to introduce another dimension to the telling of Greater Pollok's colourful past.
This 62 page book can be obtained at local libraries in Glasgow including the Mitchell priced £5.99.
